The Friends of Sandfields Pumping Station was formed in June 1998 and comprises a group of enthusiasts from South Staffs Water PLC and the Clay Mills Pumping Engine Trust based in Burton on Trent.

The primary objective of this volunteer group is the preservation of an 1873 Jonah and George Davies Cornish Pumping Engine which until 1924 supplied water to Walsall and other towns in the Black Country. The engine is located in an original building at a site in Chesterfield Road, Lichfield.

The group meets most Monday evenings to carry out cleaning and preservation work.
